INQ Cloud Touch landing on April 6

INQ Cloud Touch landing on April 6You may know it as the INQ Cloud Touch or maybe as the Facebook Phone, but either way INQ Mobile's social network-loving new smartphone is touching down on April 6.

Announced just before Mobile World Congress last month, the Cloud Touch will be exclusive to Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy and will retail for £299.95 SIM-free.

Alternatively, you could go the prepay route, which will drop the price by £100, or sign up for a monthly contract, which will see you pay nothing up front, but anything from £20 a month over 24 months.

For that you get a 600MHz processor, a 3.5in touchscreen with a decidedly low-rent 480 x 320 resolution, and a 5-megapixel camera. In other words, this is no superphone.

But it's the software side where most interest lies here, as INQ has seriously doctored with the Android 2.2 underpinnings to deliver a mobile experience “for the social media generation”. For that, read Facebook – and indeed the world's favourite social network is deeply integrated into the very fabric of the Cloud Touch.

Where other handsets have a single Facebook app or feed, INQ Mobile's approach is to deliver Chat, Friends, Messages, your Wall and Notifications separately to the Cloud Touch's homescreen.

The INQ Cloud Q, meanwhile – essentially the same phone but with a QWERTY keyboard – will also be exclusive to the retail pair, but starting in June.
