iOS 5.1 released to developers

iOS 5.1 released to developersApple released iOS 5 just over six weeks ago (remember Error 3200?), and quickly followed up with iOS 5.0.1 when a multitude of users complained about poor battery life.

Now developers have been served with iOS 5.1, and – to be perfectly honest – there’s really not much of interest to report. I have no idea what I’m going to write after this paragraph. Come join me.

The version of iOS 5.1 provided is a pre-release, which means there’ll probably be another couple of beta versions before the general public get the chance lap it up.

The pre-release pretty much quashes rumours of an iOS 5.0.2 update, which would further address the battery life issue. A plethora of users complained that iOS 5.0.1 didn’t have much – or any – effect.

It was thought that iOS 5.1 might bring fairly significant changes, including the ability to tell Siri to switch off Bluetooth. Alas, the release notes published by BRG would suggest otherwise.

Making an educated guess, and in an attempt to fill some space, I’d say iOS 5.1 might touch down on December 8. Yeah, that’ll do.
