iOS 8 is likely still a good few months away, and will almost certainly debut on the iPhone 6, perhaps alongside the much discussed Apple iWatch.
While we wait, our taste buds are being tantalised with a handful of iOS 8 screenshots, seemingly showing off a new range of apps.
The iOS 8 screenshots first popped up on Chinese social networking site Weibo, and of course they could be fakes, yadda yadda yadda. You know the drill.
The first screenshot (left) doesn’t appear to show much of interest, but the second iOS 8 screen (right) shows new apps called Healthbook, Preview, TextEdit and Tips.
We’ve heard Healthbook mentioned before, and the name of course sits nicely with the existing Passbook app (for tickets and that). Healthbook is tipped to work in conjunction with the iWatch for all your fitness needs.
As for Preview, that’s your default picture viewer in OS X, though we’re not sure why you’d need that in iOS 8. Unless there’s… a file system? Nah, don’t be silly.
Similarly, TextEdit is used to open – you guessed it – text documents in OS X, while Tips might well give, er, tips for stuff like using an iWatch in tandem with an iPhone. Just a guess, mind you.
Inevitably we’ll get a preview of iOS 8 at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. It’s not clear if Apple will launch any hardware, or if we’ll have to wait till autumn.
