Does the iPad 3 look identical to the iPad 2?

Does the iPad 3 look identical to the iPad 2?iPad 3 rumours are all the rage right now, with the industry generally expecting Apple – based on the past couple of years – to make some sort of announcement within the next few months.

There’s lots of talk of a high definition display, but one thing we haven’t heard much about is the actual design. Enter: iLounge’s Jeremy Horwitz.

Jeremy claims to have had a hands-on with the iPad 3, and notes that it looks almost identical to the iPad 2. Jez explains: “From the back, you could walk past this new iPad on display and have no idea that anything had changed.”

Indeed, Jeremy suggests that the successor to the iPad 2 might be dubbed the iPad 2S or iPad 2 HD.

The iPad 3 (let’s stick with that name for now) will reportedly be 1mm thicker than the iPad 2, in order to accommodate enhanced internals, which of course means you’ll have to fork out once again for a Smart Cover.

The camera, according to Jeremy, will be the same as that found on the iPhone 4S, but without the LED flash.

So, er, nothing much new there, and Jeremy himself concedes that the device he saw might in fact have been an early prototype.

Ah well, it shouldn’t be long till we find out for sure. Unless Apple pulls an iPhone 4S on us and leaves us hanging for four months.

Looks like they copied the HP Touchpad to me.

Ye of little faith! Apple are always radically redesigning their products with every launch! Oh.... wait a minute.....

In fairness, if you take an Apple-esque minimalistic design approach, there isn't all that much you can do with a thin slab with on side dominated by a screen...

They're not going to copy Sony's S Tab "magazine" style (which has pros, but cons, too). And, being Apple, they won't do anything Toshiba AT100 like...no chubby workhorse chassis.
Also: how many casual users can tell apart HTC's high-end models?

Im sure itll look the same, but with the increased screen resolution itll certainly be the iPad 3 with the iPad 2 being sold at the same time for a budget price (probably an 8GB version like the iPhone 4)

Expect the keynote to focus on the magical screen and how awesome siri on your iPad is
