We’ve heard about the LG Optimus 3D, LG Optimus Pad and HTC Evo 3D. This week we found out that RIM will also embrace 3D material with the BlackBerry PlayBook. Now Apple is rumoured to be the next manufacturer to jump on board the idiotic 3D train, according to RCRW.
RCRW claims that the iPad 3 will be 3D, and attributes the claim to a “Hollywood insider” who said: “The fact that the iPad 3 is 3D is a dead cert.” Apparently said insider went on to add that: “the big film studios were currently running around like blue arsed flies trying to gear up to release plenty of 3D content in time for Apple’s next launch.”
Foxconn, the Taiwanese manufacturer that provides components for Apple, is also said to be screaming: “3D iPad 3!”
The trend for 3D has yet to prove that it has the legs to carry it much farther. Other than James Cameron’s Avatar, there hasn’t been a single film that has truly justified having 3D content. It is complete and utter ****. Playing games in 3D is ****. When will the friggin’ bubble burst?
We’ll see what happens, I guess. But something tells me Apple is too smart to start faffing around with such nonsense.
