unless the answer is no, it is yes... ;)
Not really known, yet, but, I s'pose, quite likely.
If it isn't, it will be for the bestest, most funnest reasons in the whole universe :p

If it's not Apple will come out with some bullsh*t about quad-core being unessential and a vulgar, pointless display of power and that iOS is smooth without such a powerful processor due to its awesome optimization, followed by much ranting about battery life.

Otherwise, yes. The iPad 3 is expected to be quad-core :), though that's by no means official yet.

Nope, very unlikely iPad3 will be quad core.

Quad core chip is twice as expensive as dual core. It also eats twice as much battery, while not providing double the performance. Since all Apple CPU/GPU undervolted and underclocked there is not need to complicate hardware, when you can use existing one and bump up clock speed (directly proportional to performance).
