iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 release dates: October 25?

iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 release dates: October 25?The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C were launched last week to a unanimously positive response (ahem), but there’s still potentially plenty of iHardware to come in the last few months of space year 2013AD.

Two such devices are the inevitable iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, and the rumour mill is currently screaming “OCTOBER 15 LAUNCH!” in our ears. Ouch.

We’re crediting French site macg.co, which promises “un special event le 15 octobre”. Translation: a special event on October 15. You’re welcome (I was first in my year at French; true story).

Top contenders for launch are the iPad 5, which is tipped for an iPad mini-style overhaul, with less bezel, less weight, less thickness; and the iPad mini 2, with an eye-melting Retina display. And hey, maybe some Apple TV stuff.

There’s no mention of the Apple iWatch, though we get the sense that the Californians aren’t in any rush with their debut smartwatch, so it might be 2014 before that bad boy sees the light of day. Maybe.

The proposed October 15 iPad 5/iPad mini 2 launch date fits nicely with what went down last year, when we met the iPhone 5 in September, and the iPad 4 and iPad mini first gen the month after.

As for iPad 5/iPad mini 2 release dates, Apple tradition suggests that’d happen the Friday of the week after, so that'd be October 25. Yep.

Odd... my better half's iPad 2 has yet to hit any app-hurdle that made us think, "wish it had more this or that and better blah blah blah..." - Now we're at iPad 5?

I wonder if the "eye-melting retina display" in the rumoured new iPad Mini 2 will still be worse resolution than the Nexus7 and new 7" Kindle?
