iPad Air 2 launch date: October 16?

iPad Air 2 launch date: October 16?It’s that time of year when all the usual suspects come out of the woodwork and throw darts at a calendar and tell us when the next generation of iPads is launching.

A potent brew of logic and history dictates it’ll likely be a Tuesday launch, at least. Er, except this here story says it’ll be a Thursday – October 16. Zuh?

The last couple of iPad launches have gone down on a Tuesday, same with the iPhones, so we were quite happy with the suggestion that the new iPads for 2014 would launch on October 21 – give or take a week.

But nope, re/code says it’ll be October 16, a Thursday, and to be fair to the chaps, they recently told us – rightly – that the Apple Watch would show up alongside the iPhone 6 in September, but with a vague ETA of early 2015(ish).

There’s not much else to chew on (other than the mention of new iMacs and OS X Yosemite), but it’s interesting that very few people are talking about the third-generation iPad mini; all focus seems to be on the iPad Air successor.

As we’ve mentioned elsewhere, it’s not clear what Apple might do to improve upon the already-impressive iPad Air (and iPad mini 2), with Touch ID and an even slimmer/lighter design looking likely.

In any case, Apple must surely be putting the finishing touches to its invites. You can get my email address below, under The Mobot Team, Tim.

OMG... iOS 8.1 and Yosemite together? We\z scr*wed :p
Gawd - Mavericks and iOS 7.1.1 really messed up way too much for my liking. Still big issues, actually. Forget syncing an iDevice with iPhoto on Mavericks...

Why do you keep on using the American date format?
