We have to admit, we were wondering if there’d be much appetite for the fourth gen iPad and iPad mini, arriving just one month after the iPhone 5 and seven months after the third gen iPad.
Well, turns out we were wrong to doubt shiny old Apple, as it’s only gone and set a spanking new launch weekend record.
We’re told that three million units of the fourth gen iPad and iPad mini were sold in the first three days. Not too shabby.
Indeed, that’s all the more impressive considering the figures are based entirely on the Wi-Fi only models. The Wi-Fi + Cellular units will follow later in the month.
And not forgetting stiff competition for the iPad mini in the form of the Amazon Kindle Fire HD and the new 32GB Nexus 7.
"Customers around the world love the new iPad mini and fourth-generation iPad," yelled Apple CEO Tim Cook, possibly while lying naked on a bed of money.
"We set a new launch weekend record and practically sold out of iPad minis. We're working hard to build more quickly to meet the incredible demand."
Over on the UK Apple site (remember to scroll down for the apology), iPad mini shipping time is listed as two weeks. Anyone get one?
