Does using an iPad through a mobile hotspot count as tethering?

If I were to use my phone's Wi-Fi hotspot (giffgaff) to connect my iPad, would that count as tethering??

You just described the entire premis of what tethering is and asked if it "counts" as tethering? Er of course?

Reminds me of a post I read about claimed battery standby times. A guy was giving out about phone X. How it had 200+ hours of claimed standby, but his usually dies after 24 hours when ALL he did was "watch a few video clips and listen to music..."

Though, in defence of the poster here: there is some dubious reporting when it comes to tethering, and especially when it comes to iDevices... so, I can't blame him/her for getting confused. A bit...
