The new iPad: benchmarked ahead of release

The new iPad: benchmarked ahead of releaseSo, you've ordered a new iPad? You've been told you might have to wait a little longer than you originally expected? Bah! Well here's something to keep your interest up there while you sit and wait for the postie to knock. Cos it's going to feel like forever and a day until he does.

Some rather lucky gents all the way over in 'Nam claim to have gotten hold of the new iPad and they've run some benchmark tests on it.

They've found that the RAM has been increased to 1GB with the Geekbench score hitting 756. The new iPad's processor remains at 1GHz, which was widely anticipated, and there are also lots of other very interesting word and number combinations which this author is far too thick to understand - but we're sure will get some of you excited.

It's interesting to see if only for the very reason that Apple usually tries to keep a tight lid on the inner workings of its devices, with only "A4" and "A5" - and now "A5X" - being the phrases pumped out of Cupertino.

Click here for the full list of new iPad benchmarking data - though we'd recommend brushing up on your Vietnamese first.
