Will the iPhone 3GS stick around after the iPhone 5 release? It's getting iOS 6 -- right?

It's getting some of ios6 except the interesting bits. We don't know for sure if it'll stick around yet, seems likely in some markets at least.

The UK Telegraph reported 'sources' said Apple will discontinue the 3GS when the new iPhone is released. (apparently it's to be replaced by an 8GB iPhone 4S)
However, yes, the iPhone 3GS allegedly will get some iOS6 flavorings.

Of course, none of this is confirmed.

Course an 8gb version of either is next to useless if you actually want to use the appstore a little bit or the camera.
Maybe the rumours are right maybe they are nonsense we'll know soon enough, certainly a lot of wrong rumours about last years iphone5 though

Very true. LOL Plenty of wrong guesses last year. False 'leaked' parts and accessories.
As to 8GB... yes, I'd personally prefer 16GB minimum. But with the hyped cloud and dropbox etc etc... there seems to be a reversal in storage size trends.

Yep but with apps, games, and ios all getting more bloated there's no room for manoeuvre on 8gb, strictly for those who don't want to use it much.
