Why doesn't my iPhone 3GS vibrate?

My iPhone 3GS doesn't seem to want to vibrate. How much would it cost to fix? Or, is there anything I can do to fix it myself?

I have had this problem on 2 iphones now, if the phone is under warranty then you can take it into your local apple store and they will replace the phone for you there and then just make sure that before you go that you have done a backup of your device in intunes. If your phone is out of warranty then the operation to replace the motor is a simple one, basically you undo the 2 screws on the bottom of the phone near the dock connector then using a sucker (i used one that holds christmas lights to the window) lift up the screen carefully, once the screen is up you will see the motor located on the right handside of the phone held in with 2 tiny philips screws, simply unscrew these and then carefully slide the motor out of the housing and replace with a new one, new motors are around the £3 mark on auction websites. The following link should help you as it is the same for a 3g model as a 3gs
hope this helps
