iPhone 4S battery - much worse after two years

All of a sudden my iPhone 4S battery seriously struggles to get through a whole day. Is that normal after more than two years of use?

It is. Only a couple of days ago I spoke with 2 iPhone 4S owners whose devices suddenly barely make it through 8 hours - and usually the last 30% or so disappear within seconds.
2 years, unfortunately is the norm these days... I have a couple of old Nokias with 7 and 8 year old batteries that go just fine. But of course, with today's smartphones, charge cycles are much shorter, and often we hook up to a PC to sync or back up stuff - whereby we add short charge periods, or we leave devices on charge past 100% because we are lazy or not quite finished with a sync... All of that helps the battery degenerate that bit faster. On the plus side: the 4S battery replacement isn't too expensive.
