iPhone 4S or iPhone 5

Would it be silly to buy an iPhone 4S when the iPhone 5 is out? Thoughts?

If you can get a cheap iPhone 4S and the 3.5in screen is okay for you? Why not.
But: don't be impressed by the folks who say the iPhone 5 is a minor update. In my opinion it is a major improvement. Not talking about any major changes, but the sum of small improvements makes it an impressive device.
There, I said it :p

On the other hand: More iPhone 4 accessories about; loads of offers, new and second hand... So that must be factored in.

But you still wouldn't buy one....
The 5 will get an extra year of ios updates which may or may not be a good thing.

Maybe for someone who doesn't already own an iPhone, but for those I know who moved from a 4s, it's less than spectacular. In fact apart from giving your fingers an extra workout it doesn't really cut the mustard in terms of updates (from the 4s at least)

Mrew, I disagree. I used a 4S when it came out for 3 months. Big improvement in speed and camera, better sound (subjective, granted), much better battery life DESPITE a bigger screen etc..

And the over all 'feel' is more of a difference than many pther upgrades I tried. But hey, maybe I'm just so bought with most phones I tried recently that I WANT the 5 to be good?

Bored, not bought (or am I? Muaaah)

I should add: the iphone 5 I am using is a loan. I wouldn't buy one :p Not worth €600+ imho... NO phone is, and I don't 'do' contracts.

Yes, because iPhone's keep their value. On Pay as you go there is only £100 difference between 4s and 5. On contract there is around £3pm difference. So no point going for the older phone and paying pretty much the same amount on contract or £429 for a phone that in this day and age should cost around £300.

Or just buy the nexus 4...
