So, the wait is almost over. A day or so to go and we will finally see what the next iPhone(s) look like after a wait that seems to have gone on forever.
But while thousands will camp out at the Apple store to get their hands on one, now may well be a good time to nab an iPhone 4, with eBay telling Pocket-lint they're expecting a 70% increase in iPhone 4 sales over the next few weeks.
Kinda makes sense really since lots of us will need to raise the cash to pay for a shiny new Apple gadget. And not really much of a surprise to eBay which says this kind of malarkey goes on every time a new iPhone is unveiled.
Angus McCarey, the retail director for eBay UK said: "Our figures show that savvy shoppers are ready and waiting to get their hands on the iPhone 4 at a cut down price. The UK leads Europe in terms of smartphone adoption, which is helping to drive the triple digit growth of mobile shopping on eBay."
And with the iPhone 4 having been the UK's biggest selling handset over the last 15 months or so, there'll be plenty to go around meaning lots of leverage over price and some potentially great deals ahead.
Speaking of the iPhone 4S or iPhone 5 or whatever it is, you can imagine that as the date nears, the speculation is reaching fever pitch. There is no doubt in our minds that the handset is heading for release because not only have Apple invited the world and his wife's eyes to feast on their launch this Tuesday, but also because Apple staff in the UK have been told they can't take leave in the first two weeks of this month. If they have booked leave, barring major circumstances, they'll have to cancel.
Meanwhile, there's more virtual evidence that the iPhone 5 does exist following these pics appearing over on MacRumors showing what look like cases for said handset. It's interesting because various rumours earlier in the week pointed to the next iPhone being a 4S version and not an iPhone 5. Which kinda tallies up with other lines being spun out by those apparently in the know too.
Unfortunately, it looks like a video of the iPhone 5 doing the rounds on YouTube is just an elaborate fake. We were really intrigued by this at first but the more we watched it, the more it just seems to raise too many unanswerable questions. Like why is the home screen perfectly obscured? And why do apps open in ways that they don't on other iPhones?
Anyway, not long to go now. One more sleep. And then we'll know. By which time, we'll be looking forward to the iPhone 6. Which may even come with bendy glass.
