The latest iPhone 5 rumours suggest that it won’t make an appearance till later in the year. Autumn maybe. Or perhaps it’ll launch in late June, with its own special post-WWDC event. Who knows?
The other rumour doing the rounds is that the iPhone 5 will embrace 3D. Personally I hope that’s not the case, as 3D is (a) expensive, and (b) rubbish.
If the iPhone were to adopt 3D, it’d likely be a separate iPhone 3D beast. I can’t foresee Apple forcing its entire user base to move into the third dimension. It remains to be seen how the market will react to the LG Optimus 3D and HTC Evo 3D, and both manufacturers have a range of alternative devices.
It’s a similar case with the rumoured keyboard version of the iPhone. Many people are happy with the touchscreen, so there’s no need to make the phone bulkier and heavier with a redundant slide-out QWERTY. That’s not to say we won’t see a “Pro” style iPhone, but again; separate beast.
With at least another two months to go, we’re sure to hear a lot more iPhone 5-related craziness before it all becomes official.
