iPhone 5 sent for testing in wee sealed boxes?

iPhone 5 sent for testing in wee sealed boxes?A few days ago we heard that Apple’s latest smartphone had been spotted in the wild, with a low-res shot of some dude playing with what was purported to be an iPhone 5.

Now we’ve got more iPhone 5 rumour juice courtesy of the Guardian’s resident tech guy (or tech editor, more formally), Charles Arthur. Charles reckons the iPhone 5 is still heading for a September release, despite growing rumours that it might now be October.

One reason is that iOS 5 is expected to arrive in September, so it’d make sense to see the iPhone 5 arrive alongside it. We’re with you there, Charles.

The other reason – and this one’s a bit of an exclusive – is that Charles’ sources tell him the iPhone 5 is currently winging its way across the globe in sealed boxes, on its way to carriers for testing.

The testing stage is one of the last phases before launch, and if the iPhone 5 is indeed on its way for testing, it suggests it’s still on course for a September arrival.

Time will tell, I guess. There are less than 60 days till October…

And here I was thinking Apple was sending iPhone 5s to carriers encased in ice.
