iPhone 5 water damage indicator

Could I check the water damage indicator on my iPhone 5 myself? Something tells me taking an iPhone 5 to pieces mightn't be particularly easy!

i dont think the answer above is correct - you can easily check the water damage indicator.
It located in the headphone socket and is designed to be easily seen.
Simply shine a torch in, or even stand by a window, and you should see a white disk if it's fine and an black or red disk if its water damaged.
If you have a friend with an iphone, you can compare the two and you can easily see the difference.

It's not.
If you think it has water damage, it probably does. ;)

If not, then not.

There are tutorials online. But again, it requires some skill.

That's the theory. Have the phone for a while and let dust and smoke and grease do the job ;)
See how easy it is then.

But you're right, of course. I should have mentioned the 'obvious' first! :)

Iphone 5 has 3 sensors as far as I know... 1 in the sim tray, and 2 internal that cannot be seen without voiding the warranty. They made it harder for the indicator to be triggered on this phone compared to past iPhones but you can still check the one in the sim tray..
