It was marketing chap Phil Schiller who did his best to make the iPhone 5 sound like the Best Thing Ever last night, and – to be fair, regardless of how you feel – he did a pretty good job. That’s why they pay him the big bucks.
One claim we didn’t relay, however, is that the iPhone 5 is the world’s thinnest smartphone. Why? Because that’s simply not true.
With a thickness of 7.6mm, the iPhone 5 is certainly the thinnest iPhone in the world (the iPhone 4S is comparatively chubby at 9.3mm), but it’s far from the thinnest smartphone.
Smartphones thinner than the iPhone 5 include:
- Oppo Finder – 6.65mm
- Huawei Ascend P1 S – 6.7mm
- Fujitsu Arrows – 6.7mm
- Pantech Vega S5 – 6.89mm
- Motorola RAZR – 7.1mm
So there you have it. Three phones that are almost a full millimetre thinner than the iPhone 5. Whachoo talkin’ about, Schiller?
