Is the iPhone 5c 'better' than the iPhone 4S?

Is the iPhone 5c higher up the ladder than the iPhone 4S? Is there much of a difference?

The iPhone 5c is far superior to the 4S. It is even far superior to the iPhone 5 (assuming the plastic body doesn't turn you off) - not by any one or two big step/s but by the many subtle improvements: Better file compression means you get more user avilable storage. Camera is better and faster, battery is much much better (even though on paper it's only 10% 'stronger')...
And, obviously, the screen is bigger than that of the 4S without making the phone that much chunkier.
If you own a 4S and consider upgrading, I'd say, yes, if the money doesn't break you, go for it.
If the option is to 'upgrade' to either a 4S or a 5C, go for the 5C - again, assuming the slight difference in price doesn't kill you.

Yes.
Yes.
Well you'd take the 5c over the 4s, whether you'd upgrade to it from 4s is different matter.
