Today’s the day that eager Apple fans finally get their hands on the shiny new iPhone 5S and/or iPhone 5C, with the obligatory queues round the block and what have you.
Today’s also the day that Apple begins accepting orders for the iPhone 5S online (pre-orders for the iPhone 5C opened this time last week), but already it’ll be next month before you get your hands on it.
At the time of writing, Apple is saying that the iPhone 5S will be dispatched in October – regardless of colour (grey, silver or gold) or storage (16, 32 or 64GB).
That promise seems pretty vague. I mean, technically “October” could be 11 days or almost six weeks from now. Normally we’d expect to see a more specific estimate in terms of weeks.
Rumour has it that iPhone 5S yields are pretty low on account of the troublesome fingerprint scanner, though it’s not uncommon for iDevice delivery times to shoot up quickly.
As for the plastic-backed iPhone 5C (don't call it the "budget iPhone"), there appears to be plenty of those bad boys.
Again regardless of colour (white, red, yellow, blue or green) or storage (16 or 32GB), you can expect your iPhone 5C to be dispatched in just 1-3 business days.
Anyone out there grab an iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C? How’s it looking in the stores? One Mr Norman Hicks appeared outside the Covent Garden Apple store on Tuesday night and spent two nights alone. Fantastic.
