Apple is predictably maintaining radio silence, though it’s largely accepted that the Californians’ next smartphone will be launched on September 10. But what about the iPhone 5S release date; when can we get our hands on it?
Well, the latest candidate for iPhone 5S release date is September 20 (pretty much what I’ve been saying all along), though a brief warning: The same source was saying late October just a few days ago. Amazing.
What happened is, see, a source of Greek site TechManiacs (“who wishes to remain anonymous”, natch) said we should expect the iPhone 5S release date to fall on October 25, ditto the budget iPhone 5C.
That immediately raises eyebrows because Apple typically likes to keep launch and release pretty tight. A wait of over six weeks for new hardware? Not a chance.
However! The same source has come back to clarify that he actually meant October 25 would be the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 release date.
The iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release date will supposedly fall – as mentioned before – on September 20, which is a gap of just 10 days, and far more in keeping with Apple tradition.
Oh, and we’re also told to expect iOS 7 on September 16 – “Probably”.
- September 10: iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S launch date
- September 16: iOS 7 release date
- September 20: iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S release date
- October 25: iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 release date
Presumably we’ll see a separate launch event for the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2, much like last year with the iPhone 5S (September), and the iPad 4 and iPad mini (October).
