Does the iPhone 6 have a special unbreakable screen? Is it different from say the Galaxy Note 4?

No. Basically the same technology.
And alas: there are no unbreakable screen. The idea is to avoid deep scratches. Cause those scratches would become cracks when enough impact force hits the proverbial fan.
