Despite the persistent rumour of two iPhone 6 sizes, specifically 4.7in and 5.5in, most rumours of late have focused on the smaller of the two, leading some to question the very existence of the larger model.
Not so here. The panel for the larger iPhone 6 is purportedly pictured front and back, and we’re told to start calling it the iPhone 6L. Interesting.
The pictures come from Chinese-language Apple Daily, though we’re immediately suspicious: what we're seeing above looks identical to what we've seen from the 4.7in iPhone 6 to date, and it doesn't look that big in the hand. Er, unless that guy is enormous.
For what it's worth, Apple Daily goes on to say the smaller iPhone 6 will be powered by a modest 1,810mAh battery, while the iPhone 6L will have a whopping 2,915mAh juice unit – both claims backed up with photos. To give those figures some context, the iPhone 5s has a 1,560mAh battery.
Of course, the iPhone 6L might well pack a more powerful processor and higher resolution in addition to the larger display, immediately offsetting the additional milli-Amp hours.
Well, certainly lots to mull over, and inevitably there’ll be plenty more in the three-and-a-bit weeks till the iPhone 6 – and iPhone "6L" – launch.
