Can you get an iPhone app with walking directions?

I need an iPhone app that’s like GPS for a car but with walking directions. I don’t drive! Thanks

You need to change setting in Google Maps from driving to walking.

You can get a walk directions app from http://www.iFootpath.com There are some lovely walks that you can download.

Walkit is just what you want, just came across the app myself recently.

The Google Maps that are built in are not ideal for finding the way when walking, you can choose walking but it "rarely" changes the actual route and just inceases the time taken, fact is some routes cannot be walked like main roads e.t.c so this app is very useful.

The new iFootpath App - iFootpath Mobile has just been launched. It has lots of new features including walks to download, GPS tracking on walk maps as well as the ability to create tracks and walks from the App. It's free at the moment but this is likely to change. The website is

http://www.iFootpath.com

and the itunes link is

http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/ifootpath/id460757115?mt=8

There is a new forum on the iFootpath website if you want to post up some comments.

Trouble is if you chose walking on Google maps it just chooses roads and doesn't take public footpaths into account. That's what I'm looking for. Any suggestions please?

I thought it's built into the Apple maps app? You just need to change 'directions type' http://www.imore.com/how-change-default-direction-type-maps-app-ios

Apple maps is the way to go, it will force you to use public footpaths as you will need to ask for directions :p

Actually: wrong, though. Crap upon release, it's pretty okay now. In fact: Maps for Ireland are more up to date than Google's or Nokia's...
