Why doesn't the iPhone have a microSD slot?

Has Apple given any reason for not including a microSD slot like it being too 'confusing' (as it is for Nexus users supposedly!). Or is it just about £££?

Just about $$$
It's not like MacBooks don't have USB port...
No SD slot and the most sold iPhones are the cheapest - ie the ones with the least amount of storage. That means you'll more frequently connect your phone to iTunes to sync new stuff. And, oh look, while iTunes is open, why not look at the store? Kerching!!!

Having said that: a friend has managed a CPW store or 2 for ten years. He reckons the vast majority of people who buy a phone with SD slot keep the phone as it came - either the bundled SD card or whatever they could afford when they bought the phone.
Not scientific, for sure. But people I work with all have the 8GB cards in their phones that was in the phone when they got it.
