You’ll all no doubt remember the stupidly high-profile story from last year, concerning the Apple employee who left a prototype iPhone 4 in a bar in California, only for it to end up in the hands of Gizmodo, with the police search and the blah blah blah…
Well, it’s only gone and happened again. Brilliant.
The iPhone 5 prototype was reportedly lost in a San Franciscan tequila bar called Cava22, leading to a frantic search from Apple. There’s a suggestion it may have been sold on Craigslist for $200. Is that all? The iPhone 4 prototype went for $5,000.
Apple ultimately traced the iPhone 5 prototype to the home of a dude in his twenties, who admitted being in the bar on the night the device was lost. The guy allowed police to search his home, but no trace was found.
Supposedly Apple then offered cash up front, no questions asked, but again the guy denied any knowledge of the iPhone 5 prototype.
It’s thought that the iPhone 5 prototype probably looks identical to the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 prototype that went AWOL last year was dolled up to look like an iPhone 3GS.
The bar owner, Jose Valle, confirmed that someone called looking for a lost iPhone around a month ago, and quipped: "I guess I have to make my drinks a little less strong.”
