Does the new iPod Touch Have an A5 Dual-Core Processor?

I was just wondering if the iPod Touch that Apple announced today, has the same A5 Dual-Core processor that the iPhone 4S has?

Apple didn't say. You'd have thought that if it did, they'd shout about it being the most advanced portable gaming system.

But maybe they didn't want to take away from the modest changes in the 4S?

If it does I might get one to replace my old iPod Touch 2nd generation as there are some really good games on iOS and the iPod Touch is an affordable way to play them :).

it might be worth considering getting the previous generation Touch, especially a referbished one, would expect it to be significantly cheaper and AFAIK no games other than RAGE and that castle one has come close to making the A4 chip break a sweat, dont expect that to change too much in the future either

too bad if it doesnt otherwise i would have got a new one to make up for the additional slowness of jailbreaking

I've not heard that it does since last night's press event, so I'm assuming it doesn't. If this is the case, what exactly IS new on the iPod Touch 5th Generation?

the name. and for crapple thats enough... (tbh they look lazy this year)

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 16:51

I've been doing some Googling. Apparently, the differences are as follows:

1) The white version
2) It ships with iOS 5
3) ....oh no that was it....*awkward silence*...

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 16:52

Treab, I agree they were lazy this year.

Nano: software update
Touch: white version & software update
iPhone: processor they've had since the launch of the iPad 2 and a standard 2011 smartphone 8mp camera

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:00

Nano: software
touch: white and software
iphone 4s: processor 8mp camera software
ipad: processor... (was their anything else no new screen no new memory no new software?)

iPad gained some crappy cameras as well....

Retina display was rumoured for the iPad, but never appeared, fitting the lazy theme really :p. Oh and the 4S' RAM is now 1gb up from 512mb and the iPad 2's RAM is 512mb up from 256mb.

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:08

i thought the 4s still had 512? have you got a link to show the ram level?

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:13

Which are reliable enough.

Matt. Matt. Matt.

you should know that which know nothing... i mean look at this prime quote...

Apple will continue to sell the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS at discounted prices

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:20

They are selling the 4&3GS at lower prices, aren't they?

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:21

the iphone 4 is down to 449.00... with half the memory... so no really.

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:21

"System memory

The 4S now has 1GB of system memory, double that of the iPhone 4. The 3GS has 256MB."

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:22

I'm pretty sure Techradar are undeniably reliable, they state 1gb as well. How much did an iPhone 4 16gb used to be?

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:23

but you gotta ask with ios5 coming to the iphone 3gs will the 3gs run like a dog on those old specs or does the os run on very little???

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:24

499... or 512 not exactly the biggest reduction based on apples pricing structure.

matt101101 / MOD  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:43

Wow. The 3GS is still going to be £319!!!! For a 28 month old phone, I bet that'll sell loads of units...

Treab  Oct. 5, 2011 at 17:45

yep and thats for the 8gb version too ;) so pay just as much as before for less...

CTPAHHIK  Oct. 6, 2011 at 15:58

It's off season and you have to pay more for Apples off season :p
