iPod touch third gen battery indicator

How do I change the battery indicator on an iPod touch third gen to percentage? Can't find it anywhere! Maybe not possible with the version of iOS I'm stuck on? (iOS 5.something)

No, the 3rd generation iPod Touch requires a jailbreak tweak to show battery percentage in the status bar.
But you can get a voice telling you how much juice you have http://blog.technguide.net/2011/09/how-to-activate-battery-percentage-on-an-ipod-touch-native/

It wouldn't be worthwhile anyway as they don't seem to know how much battery is left judging by how many times(on same charge) mine tells me that it's just dropped to the % it starts asking to go on charge at.

On the iPhone 5 is seems fairly accurate - except for the last 20% where anything seems possible... But that is true for most smartphones in my experience.

Well you would hope that it would be better on there...
Never had any other device tell me it's got low battery, then it hasn't, then it has, then it hasn't, then it has, then it hasn't, then it has, then it hasn't, then it has, then it hasn't, then it has, then it hasn't, then it has.

Some Nokia's are like that when power saving mode is on auto...
