‘Too many issues’ with Windows 10 Technical Preview right now, but support for more phones coming soon

‘Too many issues’ with Windows 10 Technical Preview right now, but support for more phones coming soonThe Windows 10 Technical Preview was made available for a curious selection of Windows Phone 8 devices a couple of days ago, and while there were notable omissions at the low- and high-end, Joe Belfiore tells us to stay cool.

According to J-Dawg, there are still – understandably – tons of issues with the Windows 10 Technical Preview at the moment, but we can expect support for further Lumia phones in due course.

The Windows 10 Technical Preview is currently available for the Nokia Lumia 630, Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730 and Lumia 830. But what about the big massive Lumia 1520, for example?

Belfiore tweets: “we ARE working on [the Nokia Lumia] 1520 and other phones. We were hoping to release more with 1st preview, but too many issues still.”

To be fair, it’ll probably be a further four months or so till Windows 10 hits RTM (release to manufacturers), and it’ll likely be August before we meet the first new Windows 10 devices, so let’s cut Team Belfiore some slack.

In the meantime, we’re getting a look at Windows 10 for Phone features in this YouTube video, including background images, a section for new apps, more Quick Actions in the Action Centre, interactive notifications, and enhanced speech to text. Click the blue words to watch Joe’s demo in full.

Windows 10 looks like its going to be released half-baked on phones and desktops, the current builds are nowhere near even Beta quality, it should be delayed until 2016 not released later this year judging by its current state.

I have no clue about the phone yet, but you are definitely wrong about the desktop. I've been using Windows 10 on my main laptop for a couple months, and it works really well. Huge improvements, solid as a rock, very nice.

"looks like"? "half-baked"? "phones"? Which phones? Have you tried ALL of them? It's a technical developer preview build. Of course, it is unfinished. It is NOT "near even BETA", because it's not a beta, yet.
I used "not near BETA" previews of Denim on a 930, 1520, 635 and 1020 - all perfectly useable.
More stable than iOS 7.1, 8.1; or, indeed Lollipop on my One M8...
I'm no MS fan, but your generalising statement is ludicrous.

Here's a Lumia 520 running Windows 10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbaguxrrXsY#t=328

I installed the preview when it came out on my Lumia 1520. It worked fine; that bunch of crap about "partition stitching" is just a bunch of crap. As for cutting 'the team' some slack? NOPE. 1520 should have been the first phone to get preview. Microsoft needs to learn; flagship owners need to come first. We are the people who bought the most expensive phone and are obviously true Windows fans. Not the people who spent $50 on their phone. Joe and Gabe need to shut up and get their 'teams' busy. But don't cut them any slack, you loser.

Is your Lumia 1520 network branded or did you buy it sim-free?
They have made it clear that the 'issues' are caused by whatever carriers do... If that is true is
another matter. But I know that branded 1520 and 930 models here in Ireland have not seen
any TP updates at all. While simfree models did get it.
Now, personally speaking: whatever! It's not ready for everyday use. So: watching a Youtube video of the update in action is just as good...
