ITV Player comes to Android first

ITV Player comes to Android firstSmug iPhone and iPad owners will be left crying into their soup, with the news that ITV Player has arrived on the Android Market before Apple’s App Store.

With ITV Player, Android users can catch up on an array of ITV content, most notably Coronation Street, still one of the nation’s favourites after 296 years.

There’s a selection of content from all the ITVs, 1 to 4, and programs will remain available for 7 days after their initial broadcast. As well as Corrie, there’s – what else do we have? – repeats of Heartbeat and Poirot. Great stuff.

The minimum requirements for ITV Player are Android 2.2 and Adobe Air 2.6. Sorry, Eclair users, no Jack and Vera Duckworth for you. The developers are currently working on a version for Honeycomb, with an iOS app to follow too.

The app is entirely free, and you can watch as much content as you like. I’m about to provide a handy link to the Android Market right… here. Enjoy.

Is there any news or speculation regarding a 4od app? Like Martin, above, i cant think of a single item of programming produced by itv that's worth watching, let alone catching up on!!

I use 4OD on my iPad all the time, they actually have some decent shows worth watching :-P

I meant a 4od Android app, to clarify.

Early feedback says you can't actually exit out the app, only escape with the home button and force stop. Nice!

I just downloaded the app to my Sony X10 ( no problems ) am very disappointed, very little content...you can't exit app ( see blizzard7 June 23rd ) so its constantly running, ITV you make great programs....shame a retard seems to have been put in charge of this app....he/she probably related to an ITV boss!!!!
