Is jailbreaking an iPhone worthwhile?

Is jailbreaking an iPhone worth the risk? Would quite like to be able to customise my iPhone more... Any thoughts?

if you want the benefits of jailbreaking then its worth it.

if your iPhone works fine and you;re happy with how everything is then its not worth it.

What risk?

Haven't you heard, if you jailbreak your iPhone there is a higher risk of it bursting into flames whilst in your pocket.

Probably wrong to hope everyone does then ;)

In my opinion it's absolutely worth any, ahem....risk.
I said it elsewhere, but hey:
Read about jailbreak first.
Then follow all instructions.
Then, once you have Cydia to get all the goodies, install only one tweak/mod/theme/app at a time - you reduce the risk that 2 tweaks don't play nice together, and if something goes wrong, you know the culprit...
If something goes wrong, the phone will start in safe mode, and you will have access to the Cydia app to uninstall all tweaks etc - for a fresh start.

Just prepare to get annoyed when Apple release the next version of iOS and you have to decide whether you want the latest OS or the tweaks you've now gotten used to.

As to exploding iPhones - there are over 25 million jailbreaked iOS devices on iOS 5 and 6.X.X - I haven't heard of any pocket-fires. :p

Given how much they've evolved the os recently that doesn't sound tricky choice..

True... But then some apps are iOS 6 only...

Oh dear fragmentation.
Guessing not many straight away and jb didn't take long, can't imagine many are specifically must have ios 6.1.x
