If I jailbreak my iPhone, does that void the phone warranty? What about insurance – can I still claim that if it’s lost or stolen?

Yes it does void the warranty, but if you format the phone before you send it to apple they don't know it's been jail broken, I've done this twice now and they have fixed it both times.

Officially, yes - jailbreaking modifies proprietary software and that voids your warranty. But personally I sent 2 'bricked' jailbreaked iPhones to repair and in both cases I got them back repaired (though no longer jailbreaked LOL) free of charge. No idea as to wether the insurers give a hoot what software you're running.

Jgl202 THEY DO KNOW
our modern phones have internal logs that record most tampering. When I picked up my bricked jailbreaked iPhone, they knew exactly what was wrong with it. Also: connect a jailbreaked and bricked iPhone to iTunes see what error iTunes throws up? Guess how iTunes knows...
