Japan’s Sony Xperia Z1 f to hit rest of the world as Sony Xperia Z1S

Japan’s Sony Xperia Z1 f to hit rest of the world as Sony Xperia Z1SFor our money, one of the most interesting phones to materialise over the past few months is Japan’s Sony Xperia Z1 f, which essentially crams all the goodness of the 5in Sony Xperia Z1 into a smaller 4.3in body. Brilliant.

The latest rumour suggests we won’t see the Sony Xperia Z1 f in the UK, but – before you go throwing yourself under a train – we will instead get the largely identical Sony Xperia Z1S. Phew.

We’re thanking the generally quite reliable @evleaks on twitter for a leaked Sony Xperia Z1S pic, and it appears to be much the same phone as the Sony Xperia Z1 f, though perhaps with slightly less rounded corners.

In typical @evleaks fashion, there isn’t much – or indeed anything – else to go on, other than “Sony Xperia Z1S, 2013”.

Assuming Sony Xperia Z1S specs match those of the Sony Xperia Z1 f, you can expect a 4.3in 720p display in place of the Sony Xperia Z1’s 5in 1080p panel.

Other Sony Xperia Z1S specs would include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage, a 2,300mAh battery, and of course a 20.1MP G Lens camera.

4G and I might just be in for this one. My HTC One 4.7 felt too big and prone to slipping out of my hand - possibly due to the material. was also going to consider Nexus 4 but that's also 4.7". Lack of top-end phones in 4-4.3" was the problem.
Never owned a Sony before (OK I did have a Vivaz for a week) but might have to check this out. What interface/overlay do Sony put on their devices?
