Jelly Bean to follow Ice Cream Sandwich?

Jelly Bean to follow Ice Cream Sandwich? We’ve had Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread and Honeycomb, and soon we’ll be served Ice Cream Sandwich. But already there’s speculation about the next next big version of Android.

According to a source of This Is My Next, it’ll be called Jelly Bean, though a second source reckons it’s merely a contender at this early stage.

Needless to say, absolutely nothing is known about Jelly Bean (or whatever it’ll be called) yet. In fact, we don’t know a great deal about Ice Cream Sandwich either for that matter.

Google first talked about Ice Cream Sandwich at its I/O event in May. It’s been fairly quiet on the Ice Cream Sandwich front since then, but last week Eric Schmidt told us to expect an October/November arrival.

Ice Cream Sandwich will unite smartphone and tablet users by combining elements of Gingerbread and Honeycomb. Leaked screenshots suggest the changes might be largely cosmetic.

It’s expected that Ice Cream Sandwich will make its debut on a Samsung-built Google Nexus Prime. Suggested specs include a 4.65in Super AMOLED display. Sweet.

Jelly Bean? Have they run out of cake-based confectionary names then (whch I thought was the idea) and switching to sweets? The shame, wheres the "french Fancy" and "creme finger"?
