Jelly Bean on Nexus S today? Nope, ya flamin' galah

Jelly Bean on Nexus S today? Nope, ya flamin' galahThe Samsung Galaxy Nexus was recently served Jelly Bean (Android 4.1), and owners of the Samsung-developed Google Nexus S (the Gingerbread flagship) are next in line.

Vodafone customers down under were told to expect Jelly Bean for their Google Nexus Ss today, alas it was pulled at the eleventh hour.

Writing yesterday, Vodafone Australia confirmed that it had given final approval for Jelly Bean on the Google Nexus S, with rollout scheduled for today, 1PM AEST.

However, a last-minute update advised: “Important news: Android 4.1 roll out for the Nexus S has been halted.” Bah.

A blog post explains: “We’ve just been advised that due to a software issue, the roll-out the of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update to Vodafone Australia customers has been delayed.

“It’s been advised the software currently does not meet all the Australian regulatory requirements related to emergency calls.

“At this stage, we don’t have any further information on when the roll-out will resume, but as soon as we do, we’ll let you know here on the blog.”
