Er, if should probably elaborate on that slightly ambiguous headline. I mean we have an update on the Jelly Bean updates; Android 4.1 isn’t available for those handsets just yet.
Yeah, so, wanna know when you can expect Jelly Bean for your Galaxy S II, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note or Galaxy Note 2? Read on, James.
Samsung’s Jelly Bean schedule is revealed over on Sammobile, courtesy of the “same insiders that told us about the Galaxy Ice Cream Sandwich updates for mobile phones and tablets.”
Starting with the trusty Samsung Galaxy S II, we’re hearing that Jelly Bean is currently being tested, and that the “first tests are looking fine”. In the worst case, the Samsung Galaxy S II will receive a Jelly Bean “Value Pack”.
It’s a similar story for the Samsung Galaxy Note. For both the Samsung Galaxy S II and Samsung Galaxy Note, Jelly Bean is expected in Q4.
As for the more recent Samsung Galaxy S III, Jelly Bean is said to be coming along nicely, and it’s expected to roll out in late Q3/early Q4.
Finally, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. It’s expected to launch on August 29, though it’s not clear if it’ll arrive with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) or Jelly Bean.
In the latter case, Jelly Bean would arrive on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 in early Q4.
Phew. In summary:
- Samsung Galaxy S II – Q4, possible “Value Pack”
- Samsung Galaxy S III – late Q3/early Q4
- Samsung Galaxy Note – Q4, possible “Value Pack”
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2 – on release or early Q4
