Jobs wanted to 'Destroy' Android?

Wow. I didn't realise things were that hostile. Thie report from the BBC

According to extracts of Mr Isaacson's book, obtained by the Associated Press, Mr Jobs said: "I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this."

He is also quoted as saying: "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong."

Yeah, I read that earlier and had a godd chuckle. Though, in fairness, that Eric Schmidt could drive me thermonuklear, too.

He failed, miserably. To put it bluntly.

19% worldwide smart phone share vs. 40(something) % worldwide market share...

In the end consumers have to final word, not many are willing to spend £500 on a phone or have to buy an old one to spend less...With Android you can spend far less and still have a newly released phone (which lets face it, is a nice feeling), or if you're so inclined, still spend £500 on an absolute monster of a phone. Best of both worlds, no need to buy last years phone to save money.

I'm a bit suspicious. Is this just an author trying to get some free publicity?

It's from through BBC, I'd be willing to bet they vet their sources.

Agreed matt. I tend to take just a bit more notice when Aunty Beeb reports it.
