Just ordered this phone

Anyone else used one of these? I know it has a few drawbacks (Sony not planning to release Android > 2.1 is a biggie) but I wanted something cheap I wouldn't feel bad about hacking.

It's my first foray into Android and I'm pretty excited.

I haven't used the pro, but the x10 mini was definitely one of the most positive surprises of 2010. I really enjoyed it. And considering the size it was amazingly well balanced. Joy to use.Have fun :)

Sony have an awful reputation with abandoning their xperia phones soon after release. Even models released less than 8 months ago are not getting updated to the latest Android version, despite promises made at the time of release. They are awful.

True, codify.
Sony Ericsson lost many loyal customers in the past thanks to shoddy or no firmware updates, and one can only hope that the added competition from Android et al gives them some extra motivation ;)

Upgrade support is one of my primary concerns when I'm looking at phones.

MrRatPants (I can't believe I just typed that!), may I ask which shop/website you ordered this from and at what price? I only ask as I am considering buying this phone for my sister. I was also considering the Orange San Francisco for a long time but was put off by some of the problems with it I read about. Did you consider the SF too?

I actually ordered it from a U.S. site called as I'm going to be spending some time overseas. I think the 3G bands for that one should work out here as well as on AT&T in America. It was $270USD and I had it shipped to a mate out there who will hold onto it for a couple weeks till I get there.

Not a bad little phone, only drawback I have found is no inbuilt zoom for the camera (digital zoom I mean obviously no optical.)

got this phone currently, was originnaly on android 1.6 and was very impressed with such a small phone, was looking forward to the update when it eventually landed i upgraded, ever since wifi would not work at all. keeps dropping connection even though i'm 2 feet away from router, tried alsorts of guides online to reseurrect it, but to no joy. tried speaking with shop i got it from and sony ericcson website and no-one helps.
first and last sony ericcson i'll be having, really poor customer service.... about 9-10mths left on contract, cant wait.

Hugesey, send it back and make a warranty claim there is obviously a problem.
I've had my mini pro for about 6 months and it does a good job. Wi-fi is quick and reception good. Excellent phone for texting with the keyboard. Battery life could be better though for a small phone.
