My two lateral "buttons" on the bottom of the screen don't work anymore on my Samsung galaxy ace.

yesterday it was working really slow, almost non responsive so i shut it down and when it turn it on again i had on the screen "safe mode on". Never seen that before and i don't know what it means. After that all my synch were gone and two buttons don't work anymore( turn back and options "buttons")/ Can you help me with some info?
Thanks a lot

Have you tried a factory reset? You can do it from recovery, since your back and menu buttons aren't working.

I've tried to reset it but when i turn in down and than hold the menu and power buttons it only turn on the phone without appearing the reboot system. What am i doing wrong?

I think it's power, home and volume down (or it might be up; one's download mode and the other is recovery, I can't remember which way round it is), not menu home and volume down/up.

The recovery wipe does a much better job than the one you can do via the phone. If that doesn't work, is the phone still under warranty (24 months for Samsung devices)?

Pauline, hard to tell without looking at the phone, to be honest...
The fact that it acted weirdly before the reboot suggests some corrupt software? Maybe a visit to a real phone repair shop is called for?

Or XDA? Depending on how technical you're feeling.

A repair store, maybe? Don't get me wrong - but one DIY job's gone wrong already... time to admit defeat?

All I can suggest is: revisit all the tutorials and how-to articles and see if you missed something.
