Smartphones and 3D had a thankfully short-lived romance, yielding just two children of note - namely the HTC Evo 3D and LG Optimus 3D.
Samsung was always rumoured to be joining the 3D smartphone party, and the latest Galaxy S IV spec speculation suggests the imminent flagship might have a 3D camera. What the…?
That’s the story according to Patent Bolt, which has discovered a filing Samsung made last week with the US Patent and Trademark Office.
Samsung’s filing includes a logo for 3D stills and video, and it’s suggested that such a feature might make it into the Galaxy S IV.
Firstly, wouldn’t Samsung be cutting it a tad close, with the Galaxy S IV launching on Thursday? “Hey Jim, have you been down to the Patent and Trademark Office with that 3D thing yet?” “Oh ffffff…”
Also, 3D? What the actual fug? You can count on zero hands the number of people praying for 3D stills and video from the Samsung Galaxy S IV.
On the plus side, the Samsung Galaxy S IV isn’t expected to be autostereoscopic. You might recall the LG Optimus Pad had a 3D camera, but had to be connected to a 3D-compatibe device to actually view the content.
What do you think? Load of old nonsense? Or are you already plotting your next 3D masterpiece?
