We’re looking forward to hearing more from the likes of Nokia, Huawei, LG, Sony, Samsung and HTC at IFA 2014 later this week. Have I forgotten anyone? Only China’s other Global Top 5 player, Lenovo!
The Chinese chappies have unleashed a cheeky teaser for their IFA event, telling us to brace for the Vibe X2 smartphone – and poking fun at Apple in the process.
Cast your minds back to last week, and you’ll recall Apple’s September 9 iPhone 6 launch teaser, which reads: “Wish we could say more.”
Adopting a near-identical layout and font, Lenovo quips: “We can’t say anything either.” Until September 4, that is.
Two ways to take this; on one hand, Lenovo referencing Apple only reminds us that the unveiling of the Vibe X2 pales in significance to the iPhone 6 launch, the latter inevitably being one of the most closely watched mobile events – nay events – of the year.
Or, being less cynical, we could take Lenovo’s joke at face value and have a geeky chuckle to ourselves. Yeah, let’s do that. Ha!
Rumoured Lenovo Vibe X2 specs include a 5in 1080p display, 2.2GHz octo-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, and a 13MP/5MP camera combo.
Oh, and not forgetting the other notable element of the Vibe X2 teaser: a big old lollipop. As in… Android Lollipop? Maybe Lenovo missed the memo, but consensus is it’ll be Android Lemon Meringue Pie - not to mention the fact that Android 5.0 is still in the womb. Unless they know something we don’t, hmm.
In any case, we’ll have the full Lenovo Vibe X2 story later this week.
