LG announces Android ICS upgrade timetable for Optimus line

LG announces Android ICS upgrade timetable for Optimus lineIf you've been rocking an LG Optimus 3D and thinking you're cock of the walk with your snazzy 3D capabilities, you'll be pleased to know that your uber-cool status is soon to be reinforced by the official arrival of Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Optimus 3D, together with its Optimus cousins the 2X, the Black and the Optimus LTE, have all been confirmed by LG to be in line for a taste of ICS goodness, with the actual dates to be announced next month on LG's Facebook page.

And if you're an older LG handset owner (as in you have an older phone, rather than you're a pensioner) then you may also be in line for an update too! Nothing's been confirmed as yet, but LG has hinted that it is, at least, investigating bringing ICS to older handsets as well:

"We are also continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones to make the ICS OS available on as many LG smartphones as possible," the company writes on Facebook.

Of course, if you're a keen tinkerer your Optimus 3D will no doubt already be running Ice Cream Sandwich, but the arrival of an official update will be good news for everyone else.

How about they concentrate on releasing Gingerbread in the UK first!!

Well id have thought youd be happier for them to skip Ginger and go straight to ICS!

Well the amount of time it's taking for GB I'll be amazed if ICS will be available for LG phones in 2012. It won't stop LG Customer Services "promising" it will be released every month though :-S
