Time was, South Korean manufacturer LG took a lot of flack for failing to provide speedy software updates, or – worse still – failing to provide software updates period.
What a difference a few years make, as LG will officially be the first Android manufacturer to roll out the Lollipop 5.0 update, starting with the flagship G3. When? This week!
The manufacturer proudly makes the announcement over on the LG Newsroom, and while there’s no specific mention of their fellow South Koreans, LG will undoubtedly be chuffed about beating the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 to the punch.
“LG is absolutely committed to giving our customers the best mobile experiences available and bringing Android Lollipop to G3 owners as soon as possible is a top priority,” yells Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Mobile.
“The new features and improvements in Android 5.0 will bring a whole new user experience to the G3 and make it even better than it already is.”
Speaking of which, LG G3 Android Lollipop features include a new design with added depth, shadows and animations; improved notifications, new colours on the lock screen, enhanced security, and improved performance thanks to Android Runtime (ART).
The LG G3 Android Lollipop update will arrive in Poland first of all, followed by “other key markets” in the “near future”. Suitably vague, but we’ll let you know just as soon as the G3 Lollipop update appears in the UK.
