LG G3 Beat ‘sets new standard in mid-tier’: 5in 720p, QS400, 1GB RAM, 8MP

LG G3 Beat ‘sets new standard in mid-tier’: 5in 720p, QS400, 1GB RAM, 8MPWell, looks like those rumours of the LG G3 mini being 4.7in – same as the LG G2 mini, or even a tad smaller at 4.5in, were wide of the mark.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the LG G3 Beat (or LG G3 S as it’s occasionally referred to), essentially a more affordable, mid-tier version of the flagship G3.

Diving straight into LG G3 Beat specs, we have a 5in HD display, though that’s 720p as opposed to Full 1080p HD. Hmm.

Powering the show is the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor backed by 1GB of RAM, while the 8GB internal storage is augmentable via microSD.

LG G3 Beat camera action comes in at a fairly modest 8MP on the rear (I say “modest”, but the iPhone 5s is technically 8MP; megapixels don't tell the whole story), with 1.3MP on the front for selfies.

As for fancy features, the LG G3 Beat has Laser Auto Focus for faster photo capture, Touch & Shoot for focus and shoot in one tap, Gesture Shot for easier selfies (just make a fist to take), Smart Keyboard, and QuickMemo+ for note taking.

The LG G3 Beat lands in South Korea on July 18, and will hit Europe “in the weeks that follow”. No mention of price at this stage, but it’ll supposedly sit at a “lower price point than was previously possible.” Whatever that means.

it'll take a selfie everytime you suck in your cheeks, or whenever a carp pouts at the screen.
