Seriously, you have to wonder why LG is even bothering with the G3 launch event next week. We already know everything there is to know about the phone. Well, almost.
A couple of new features have seemingly been confirmed via some sort of Korea-based preview event, while LG itself has been openly talking up the QuickCircle case (left).
Starting with the LG G3 preview event over in South Korea, a number of slides - relayed by G 4 Games - confirm various details about the imminent flagship.
LG G3 specs will include – shock horror – a 5.5in QHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM, 13MP/2.1MP cameras, LTE and LTE-A connectivity, KitKat Android 4.4, and a 3,000mAh battery.
LG G3 storage is listed at 32GB, though there’s no mention of microSD. That’s not to say it won’t have microSD, and it’s worth noting too that these specs are for the Korean F400S/K/L in particular.
As for dimensions, the LG G3 measures 146.3mm x 74.6mm x 8.9mm. Good to see LG doesn’t give a crud about thinness.
Moving onto the already-confirmed QHD display, LG compares its G3 to a mysterious (ahem) competitor with a 5.1in 1080p screen, pointing out that its phone has a larger display, higher resolution, sRGB100% vs sRGB150%, and Real-Stripe RGB as opposed to Pentile.
The third slide goes on to promise a 1W speaker on the LG G3, while a fourth shot explains how selfies can be taken by clenching your fist. Interesting.
Finally, there’s that mysterious, er, thing sitting across from the LG G3’s flash. It’s definitely something to do with the camera, possibly enhancing low-light shots, but it’s not entirely clear just yet.
Jumping over to the LG Newsroom, the South Koreans detail the LG G3 QuickCircle case. Essentially it allows you to access various apps from the “QuickCircle” without opening the case.
“The smartphone ecosystem is constantly evolving — no longer are cases just for protection from the elements and bumps and drops,” suggests Doc Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Mobile.
“They’re the perfect accessory to build in extra features that add more value to a mobile device. With QuickCircle Case, we’ve exceeded the baseline by making it customizable to better fit users’ needs.”
The LG G3 QuickCircle case will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Aqua Mint and Indian Pink.
Phew, lots to digest there. Full story (for what it’s worth) at the LG G3 launch on Tuesday.
