Despite being laughed off by Google just the other day, the LG Nexus rumours are swirling swirlier than ever.
John Rumour appears to have settled on "LG Nexus 4" (coming after the Google Nexus One, Nexus S and Samsung Galaxy Nexus), and some guys in Eastern Europe have gotten their hands on some sort of prototype.
We’re crediting the chaps of onliner.by (that’s Belarus, “BTW”), who’ve posted an incredibly thorough “preliminary review” of the LG Nexus 4.
As we’ve been told so many times before, the LG Nexus 4 is based on the impressive LG Optimus G, ‘cept with Samsung Galaxy Nexus aesthetics.
According to our Belarusian friends, the LG Nexus 4 will, however, have a flat display, weighing in at 4.7in 720p.
A Google translation tells us: “The most interesting thing in the design of LG Nexus 4 - is his backside.” Ahem. “To the touch it is completely smooth and glossy. Perhaps the cover is made of scratch-resistant glass."
Other LG Nexus 4 specs are said to include Android 4.1.2 as opposed to the rumoured Android 4.2, and an 8MP camera – not quite the 13MP found on the LG Optimus G.
LG Nexus 4 benchmarks are said to be slightly disappointing at this stage, though we are looking at a prototype, so we’ll reserve judgment for now.
A recent rumour touted October 29 as the LG Nexus 4 launch date. If that’s true, the latter half of October is gonna be friggin’ mental, with the Microsoft Surface release and maybe even an iPad mini launch.
