We seem to be going through another one of those spells where every other story we write is about another much-anticipated phone facing delays or supply chain issues.
Not LG's Optimus 2X, though. It officially went on sale on April 2, and – according to one retailer stocking the powerful new handset – sales have been going pretty nicely, thankyou very much.
The Optimus 2X was billed as “the world's most powerful smartphone” when it broke cover early this year, but for the most part it's been bubbling under the surface ever since thanks to the headline-hogging Optimus 3D and Optimus Pad and their infatuation with mobile 3D.
But, says Phones4U's trading director Scott Hooton, that didn't stop stocks from vanishing off the retailer's shelves in double-quick time when the Optimus 2X finally went on sale last Saturday.
Hooton said the weekend was “an extremely successful trading period for Phones 4u, and one we hope to repeat again soon.”
Phones4U has the dual-core Tegra 2-powered handset available free of charge for just £25 per month on a two-year contract, which makes for a total cost of ownership of £600 – a bit of a steal for such a high-end handset.
