LG Prada 3.0: today's the day

LG Prada 3.0: today's the dayIt's the news we just know you've been waiting for: LG's fashion-conscious Prada 3.0 is strutting its stuff on the high street as of today.

Phones4U is where you'll need to go to get your hands on one, with the mobile retailer having secured a limited exclusivity deal for the Android fashion phone.

We're not quite sure what to make of the LG Prada 3.0 – or to be more precise the Prada phone by LG 3.0 (a name we'll use once and once only). It's actually a pretty decent smartphone, while the cosmetic stylings that give it its “Prada-ness” are more understated than they could be.

There's the unmissable Prada badge front and back, Saffiano faux leather back and a customised version of Android Gingerbread complete with stylised icons and bespoke wallpapers. The overall look is fairly elegant, though, and the spec backs it up nicely.

You get a 4.3in LG Nova display with an 800-nits brightness rating, a dual-core 1GHz processor, 8-megapixel camera with 1080p video recording, 1GB of memory and 8GB of on-board storage, all in a chassis with a suitably slender 8.5mm profile.

The LG Prada 3.0 comes free on contracts starting at £31 per month, while Phones4U is giving you 12 months of free Wi-Fi via The Cloud if you sign up before the end of February.

Excellent news for Microsoft! WP no longer has the ugliest homescreen

JanSt - WP never had the ugliest 'Home Screen'; that accolade has always belonged to Nokia's S60 Symbian smartphones.

So, I'm not so sure...

Selective picture choosing? ;)

Your choice of representation aside, S60 just feels tired: The screen layout, too 'bitty'; the icons, archaic; the use of two-tone 'buttons', immature.

Whilst I am by no means a fan of WP7, I at least see it as a step forward (& away) from WP6.5 which, you have to admit, shares a few similarities with Symbain S60.

"Selective"? Indeed - that's because I can be selective when there's choice :p
I could have added Mobile Shell 3D etc etc...

Yes, you're right though - without Belle, Symbian does feel "tired"...
But featurewise it beats WP imho... But if WP and its feature set suits "you", it is a nice OS. Just not for me.
No harm ;)

Ooo the 3rd version of the original touchscreen capacative phone, since the LG Prada was out before the iPhone/Android etc and its always fun to point this out to an Apple fanatic when they start spouting on about how Apple were the first and all other modern phones copied the Apple design. Shame they got rid of the impressive 120fps video feature tho
